Team JL Ambassador, Alexander Hicks, reached out to us for help getting the word out about his former high school rowing coach, Steve Bocchino's, father who is battling Multiple Myeloma. Coach Steve is doing an hour of erging to raise funds, as well as, started a Go Fund Me page to help with his family's medical expenses. We encourage our rowing community to consider donating to help out one of our own!
George Pocock Rowing Foundation launches a A Most Beautiful Thing Inclusion Fund
The George Pocock Rowing Foundation (GPRF) announced a new fund to promote accessibility and inclusion at rowing programs across the United States. A Most Beautiful Thing Inclusion Fund aims to raise at least $1 million this year (and at least $3 million over three years) to get more kids on the water, fund education, scholarship, and mentorship programs focused on non-traditional rowing communities and communities of color where youth face barriers to participation in the sport.

Take 2 to Tokyo Summer Challenge
Since 1966, the National Rowing Foundation (NRF) has provided important funding to USRowing for the US National Team, ensuring that our athletes have the resources that they need to get them to the medal podium. For the next 14 days, the NRF invites you to be part of their "Take 2 to Tokyo" summer challenge. They'll be sharing athlete stories, videos, workout playlists, and more as we work towards a goal of raising $50,000 for the US Team by August 7.
All-Star Rowing Webinar
Esha Bhattacharya is a coxswain from the US and will be coxing for Yale Women's Crew in the fall. Bhattacharya is hosting an All-Star Rowing Webinar that will feature 16 amazing panelists, including both US Olympic rowing coaches and many Olympians. They will talk about the importance of diversity in rowing, the ways that viewers can promote inclusivity within their own teams, and their own keys to rowing success. All proceeds will be donated to the ACLU.

Riverside Boat Club Men’s Sweep Team (Stripes) and Potomac Boat Club Men’s Sweep Team (Stars) are usually rivals on the river. They have been asking themselves what we, as a rowing community, can do to make a difference in the fight against racism and injustice. These teams are banding together, in partnership with DeMatha Catholic High School Crew Team, to raise money for groups that are actively fighting for equality, justice, and systemic reform. #ErgforEquality

Rowing In Color Podcast with Maurice Scott, Jr.: On Diversifying Rowing and Being a Kid from Philly Who Never Gave Up
Team JL ambassador Maurice Scott, Jr. was born and raised in Philadelphia and grew up seeing boats on the Schuykill River. As someone whose path led him to rowing, he has worked to give back to the sport by coaching at Philadelphia City Rowing and Row New York. Additionally, he brings visibility to people of color within the sport through his story, his performance as an athlete, as well as his role as a JL ambassador.
Laurel House Face Masks
JL Racing teamed up with Laurel House to donate face masks for women and children who are victims of domestic violence. Right now, due to the pandemic, many of the families in their Counseling program who do not normally need assistance with food, supplies, etc., are struggling and Laurel House is providing as much of these kinds of practical support items as possible. Laurel House is a comprehensive domestic violence agency serving individuals, families, and communities throughout Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.

Narragansett Boat Club in Providence, RI are leading a group of student-athletes and asking you for your support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) mission to find cures for blood cancers and to help patients and families who have to battle through these diseases. They invite you to join them and run, walk, bike, jog, row, or roll in a 5k! All of the money they raise will go directly to LLS in support of its well-established mission to ensure patients get the treatment and support that they need.

To help our Rowing Community remain healthy, active and engaged, Brentwood College School invites you to participate in their Virtual Erg or Run Race Series. They have created 3 events running from April to June to keep us all competitive and fit! You can enter an unlimited number of teams consisting of 2 or 4 athletes in the categories below.
