JL Racing is proud to partner with Rowing Cares in the fight against Breast Cancer, as well as all forms of cancer that affect athletes in our community. Rowing Cares, formally known as Row for the Cure, connects rowing and cancer across the U.S. in support of patients and survivors.

Who is Rowing Cares? This incredible team works together to honor, celebrate, and remember through a series of fundraising events, both live and virtual, for women and men of all ages impacted by all cancers. To date, they have raised and distributed close to $4 million, which has been awarded to community cancer organizations and survivor rowing programs. Rowing Cares has also partnered with world-renowned and cutting-edge research funded by the Cancer Research Institute to help find a cure.

The money they raise in each community supports local education, free screenings, rowing programs, follow-up treatments and many kinds of family support as well as well as direct funding for cutting edge research.

2023 events include Mercer Indoor Rowing Cares, Miles of Hope Poughkeepsie, Row 5K Oar Bust, PNW Pink Ribbon Row, Pink the Boathouse Challenge, Rowing Cares San Diego as well as Survivor Rowing Events included in regattas such as Diamond State Masters, Kings Head Regatta, Secret City Head Race, 5280m Regatta, Head of the Charles and Head of the Schuylkill.

In celebration of their 30th anniversary, Rowing Cares proudly launched the Survivor Rowing Network (SRN) in June 2023. This growing network includes 18 rowing organizations with programs dedicated to cancer survivors. They aim to develop Survivor Rowing and put more cancer survivors into boats and on ergs. They do this by strengthening existing survivor rowing programs through collaboration & by enabling rowing organizations looking to form new programs.

For the first time this October, the Survivor Rowing Network has entered two boats of cancer survivors in the Head of the Charles, the world’s largest rowing regatta. Competing in the Grand Master’s women’s 8+ and 4+, many of these For 11 of the 12 survivors, this is their first time down the Charles course; for some, it is even their first head race. The rowing community is invited to support them through the annual Rowing Cares fundraiser: Pink the Boathouse.

The SRN athletes who are competing at HOCR will be at the JL tent on Saturday, October 21st at 3:00pm. Stop by to meet and chat with them, and learn more about Rowing Cares and the Survivor Rowing Network!
