USRowing and ESPN Team Up!

Industry Leader in Sports TV Supports World Rowing Championships.

Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida will serve as this year’s venue for both the U23 and Masters World Championship. Formerly the site of the 2017 World Rowing Championship, where the Olympic contender boats dueled for supremacy on the world stage, this summer’s competition focuses on the younger and older end of the spectrum of competition.

The current racing also functions as a chance for rowing to break into the public eye in a way it rarely has before. ESPN and USRowing have agreed for all five days of U23 action to be broadcast on their channel ESPN3. Content is available online and will cover racing from heats to finals over all five days.

This chance for exposure is “a wonderful opportunity for USRowing to highlight our sport and our athletes on a much bigger platform,” from CEO Patrick McNerney.

The 2019 U23 contest features rising stars in the rowing community, as well as some young veterans returning to the world stage again for a chance at glory over the 2k course. For the United States, the roster features an assortment of 72 athletes from across the country, 26 of who are returning from the 2018 U23 team.
